Always Forever © Chris Hyslop She’s my bright light in the morning Rises up the sun Dances in my arms Tells me I’m the one. She sings it solo From way down low. Knows when I’m watching Puts on a show. When I drift away She brings me back home One step ahead But hates to be alone. Tells me secrets I cannot hear Tells me the truth Whenever she’s scared It’s three kisses good night My always forever thing CHORUS Most of this stuff, it will come and it will go, One day so hot, another so cold Some say nothing lasts, it will come and it will go, One day so high, another so low. But they don’t know how our love makes us sing The tune may change a little But it’s an always forever thing.  She’s the courage in my heart A boulder to the storm Stands against giants Rages at the wrong. When I am unsure Her eyes set me right. Slides into my bed, Every other night. Part magic trick and Part live oak tree, Draws her own world, Lets me in for a peek. She sees the wonder, The weird as divine. Holds on tight Wrapped around me like a vine. Catches dreams all day My always forever thing. CHORUS She’s my one abiding love, She’s the one who broke in. Laughs at the old jokes Again and again. Our fingers mesh And our bodies bind. She’s real different She’s one of a kind. Stays under cover After a late, late night Wake her up easy Kisses and light. Calms my heart When I think its getting’ worse Knows what matters, Knows how to curse Making the time for our lives My always forever thing. CHORUS x 2

It's Early 03:41
It’s Early ©Chris Hyslop The air’s so clear, I can see the other shore. The fields are ripe and rusty like iron ore. The setting sun makes the colors grow bold Summer’s sweet but I’ll take red and harvest gold. Shorter days and the nights are stretching out. I carry on because you are here to spell the doubt. CHORUS The day darkens But it’s early. The house is quiet, It’s so empty. Let’s take a walk, We’ll go slowly. Holding hands, Hold on loosely Hold on, loosely. It’s cooling down, better put on another layer. That’ll keep you as warm as your steady prayer. Don’t catch cold, come here, I’ll put up your hood. Help me with my jacket baby, zip it up real good. That last storm swept out the scraps of summer sign. Seen worse and we’ll weather it the next time. CHORUS We were looking ahead and it all seemed metal cast The next thing coming had to be worse than the last The dusk has come as it always does. But the night is not at all what we thought it was. Take your time baby, I’ll be waiting outside. There’s no claim on the laws of time and tide.

Shelterbelt 05:52
Shelterbelt © Chris Hyslop Gravel grid, straight line fence Power lines, the grey expanse North winds cuts, won’t make amends Frozen to the bone No one else is coming around Staying put, a certain crowd Common sense, common ground Setting stone by stone CHORUS Was it like this before? Can’t hear the wind anymore Thoughts that aren’t my own Certain seeds are being sown Far away, a distance kept Fear and faith left unchecked Black furrows run like welts All along, shelterbelt Distant stretch, a line unmoved Mile away, enough removed What I hear its all been proved Settled down to stay Emptiness ‘tween here and there Beyond the belt an equal share Here within and without a care There too far away CHORUS Till the ground to see us through Reap again, keeps us true Couldn’t have a better view Right from the start Tell your kid what we afford Beat plough into swords It’s squared with the Lord We’ll just play a part CHORUS Gravel grid, straight line fence Power lines, the grey expanse North winds cuts, won’t make amends Frozen to the bone

Your Way 02:59
Your Way ©Chris Hyslop Home is wherever you are. I smiled that way and shook my head. Just to let you know, Just to let you know. Don’t worry when things go bad. I looked that way and closed my eyes. Just to let you know, Just to let you know CHORUS Now I can see for miles. Cause you have your way. Even when the changes come, I can see for miles, I can see for miles. Stay at home with me today. Tied my shoes and slipped away. Just to let you know, Just to let you know. Let’s have one more dance. I sighed that way and took you hand. Just to let you know, Just to let you know. CHORUS

The Forever Gone © Chris Hyslop CHORUS Oh heart acher Hide and seeker Playing hard to get Ain’t been caught yet. This passionate devil, This twist of fate. I chase you around, In the forever gone. Don’t try so hard To say it all at once, Let me draw some water, Don’t splash it in my face I’m looking down in there Don’t know what I see But it is that not knowing That brings you to me. CHORUS I watch you stand apart, I see you pay your game. Right when I think I know, You turn the other way. When I am all alone, I think it’s sweet relief. But why did I say all those things I knew would make you leave? CHORUS I sit down to fix you, I prod and I poke. But the tools don’t ever fit, And I’m the one who ends up broke. That’s a clever thing you said, I’ll pretend I didn’t hear. But way down deep inside, I’m smiling ear to ear. CHORUS BRIDGE We are twisted, twisted together. No matter what they say. We are twisted, twisted together, There is no other way You talk about yourself, That story never ends. Please not that old one, Aw, go on, tell me again. You always want it your way On every little thing. Put my foot down this time, But it comes back up again. CHORUS

Hurt You Next Time © Chris Hyslop Don’t tell me, even if it’s true. I have a way of not watching you. Not going down there, I know that silence. Don’t tell me, even if it’s true. The cuts that were have healed. Cross that river, cross that field. It makes a difference Just not the one I need. The cuts that were have healed. CHORUS Dust and tin and twisted wings, Everywhere and everything. It used to all come out fine But I’m gonna have to hurt you next time, Next time, Next time, Yeah, I’m gonna have to hurt you next time. You can say nothing and stay true. Love ya baby, see you real soon. Sold the shadow And found my way. You can say nothing and stay true.   We get higher and higher, we must. Where’s the sense in going bust? My faith is in me, More than enough. We get higher and higher, we must. CHORUS You were born with a watchful eye. Let it fade in the by and by. You look angry When you walk away You were born with a watchful eye. Things change and they ring. Sometimes you know everything. All around me My paradise Things change and they ring. CHORUS Next time, yeah, I’m gonna have to hurt you

Sugar Queen 03:58
Sugar Queen © Chris Hyslop Hey Sugar Queen, what’s with the pout? Hey Sugar Queen, what’s with the pout? Got something inside you, Can’t get it out. Too much gloss, too much shine, too much doubt. Hey Sugar Queen, what’s with the tears? Hey Sugar Queen, what’s with the tears? Got something big to say, But you got no one to hear. Too much noise, too much light, too much fear. Hey Sugar Queen, in such a state. Hey Sugar Queen, in such a state. Got to get to the next one. No time to wait. Too much time, too much money, too much hate.

Leda 05:05
Leda © Chris Hyslop Leda, your waves roll in time And that’s fine In my mind, a memory Leda, your waters kiss the shore And what’s more You pour out a melody Leda, the sun paints you white And that’s right It’s the light of my harmony CHORUS Leda, you won’t be fooled again You’ve been pinned down and knocked around By gods and by men. Leda, here comes another one This boy he’ll fly away But I will stay, till he is gone Leda, your wind fills my ears When you’re near I hear your symphony Leda, your rain beats a drum And for some It's the hum of tranquility   Leda, your clouds make me small And I fall But it’s all a summer song to me. CHORUS Leda, you won’t be fooled again You’ve been pinned down and knocked around By gods and by men. Leda, here comes another one This boy he’ll fly away But I will stay, till there’s none.

The Good One 03:41
The Good One © Chris Hyslop CHORUS It’s the good one. The one that brings ease. It’s that one single thing, The thing that you need It’s got to be real. It’s got to be true. It’s that one single thing, And that thing is you How do I get so bound up, so tied in a knot? Just being myself is the one thing I am not. Wrapped up by years of countless compromise, It’s plain to see by the doubt in my eyes. CHORUS Where is that voice trying to help me to choose? A louder one reminds of what I have to lose. That quiet voice is there, and I still believe. But I don’t trust my hear, so I’m the one I deceive. CHORUS Where’s the approval of those who don’t care? Maybe it’s lost, maybe it was never there. When you’re shallow, you’re the last one to know. Put in for something deeper, you reap what you sow. CHORUS

Crow 05:17
Crow © Chris Hyslop Here it comes again, flying in from below Doesn’t do much, but it’s enough to show That it’s still here, whenever I call Alone on a branch, black eyes, black claws. No feather out of place, a thing to endure Won’t stay long, long enough to make sure That it abides, and I can see Never looking my way but still watching me. It grabs a wire, a find circus act Leaves nothing behind, but it finds the track I sowed for it, thinking I left no mark Cover it up, slip away, in the dark. Unruffled, dodging stick, shot and stone. So long together, when apart we’re not alone Bound to a thing, long over and done Never make a mistake that’s faster, than you run. We take our leave, far away from our past It glides back, the union holds fast. I’m grounded looking up from below I’m in no mood for that god-dammed crow. How about this, here’s a whole new thing You drop to the ground, I’ll take to the wing So high, so far, so true and so free A view from beyond is all, that I need.

Take Away 05:56
Take Away © Chris Hyslop Orange barrels, flashing yellow lights, Someone’s broke down up there Middle of the night This means another hour, maybe worse. Can’t turn around. No way to reverse. Off the freeway, doesn’t know this place at all. Searching for a sign. A boarded up strip mall. Ghosts bouncing around in the back seat. She checks the rearview, Turns up the heat. Pictures of mountains, screwed high up on the wall. Soft voices like echoes Out in the hall. Staring through the ceiling, eyes open wide. Wondering if anyone Is left on his side. Light speed helmsman, on my mark. Cold tile floor As he reaches in the dark. Twists the knob, shakes it side to side. Red alert Locked from the outside. CHORUS As close as I come, you’re far away. As close as you come, you’re far away. What I gave you, you can’t take away. What you gave me, you can’t take away. Take away Take away How did I get here? What is this place? There’s more than one way To be lost without a trace. No phone, no map. Left home too fast. Nothing to show her the way. Not even her past. What ever happened, it’s on me. The person you need Is the one I should be. Like last summer, best we ever had. But where does my love go When you stay with your dad? CHORUS Cool floor, sticking to his cheek Doctor said something About staying for a week. Don’t leave Mom. What’s this all about? Maybe somewhere There’s a secret way out. I’m sorry, I’ll do better next time. But it’s hard to get back From this side of the line. I didn’t mean it, the thing with the belt. Fingers at his neck, Poking at the welt. CHORUS

It Flows 04:08
It Flows © Chris Hyslop CHORUS It flows in It flows out. Comes on like the sun and freezes in your doubt. It flows in It flows out I get out of my way And it flows. In the way Run around Make a wall Push it down More in you Is more in me All gives all What you need CHORUS Open up Quiet down Not a will Not a sound Up on top Underneath Into the hole Into the teeth CHORUS By faith Unplanned Still the life Stay the hand Try to pull Move away Let it come All the way CHORUS
